Molly's SURPRISE B-day Party

It can be done! Being able to keep a big secret for many months was very hard for everyone. I have to take my hat off (if I were wearing one) to Amy, she had a vision and she came shinning through. I just helped very little, she planned it all from the renting chairs, linens, table scape, menu, decorations, cake, invitations, candles, flowers, layout, serving staff to the crystals hanging from the lanterns! Obviously she had a great teacher, Molly! That's why we all love her for her creativity, generosity, giver of time & talents and for me an awesome big sister! LOVE YOU MOLLY, Happy birthday!

This was rode on my lap for 1hr 15 min! Anything for Molly!

JUNE HAPPENINGS......Girls Camp

In the beginning of June I had the privilege of being the Camp Director of our ward for Girls Camp and those of you who know this takes a lot of preparation and time, But it's all worth it. I also was able to go and take part. It's always a humbling and spiritual experience. It always seems that we as leaders have these profound experiences and that they were meant especially just for us but ultimately it's for the girls. Gaby & Olivia went and having them there is also a great mother daughter experience. It's a great reminder of what great examples they are and what strong & sweet spirits they have, makes me so grateful to be their mom!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEBASTIAN!! I know I'm a bit late posting but May was a busy month for me. Sebastian wanted to have a laser tag party and so his wish was granted! He invited his cousins and had a blast! As you all know he's my baby and gets anything he wants, well almost anything. He's my little tough guy. Thanks for all who attended and for the gifts he loved them.

MAY HAPPENINGS........Softball season over but still going strong

Olivia just finished a softball camp at ASU. Olivia learned some great techniques. It was interesting to see all the girls working hard to get better at the game and being at ASU reminded me of when I went there and how much fun it was. I wish I had a chance to play on that field like Olivia did (just a little bit jealous!!). Keep on working hard!

GO LADY LIONS!

Olivia's did awesome and the team redeemed their loses against Mesa, Dobson & Mt. View. which is big for those who are familiar with the Mesa rivalries. Also the varsity went to state and fell short to Basha but it was a hard fought game! Olivia has great potential to make varsity and has been working hard for it already.

May Happenings......Little League Baseball

Sebastian is awesome playing 3rd base and sometimes pitcher. He even made the All-star team. They practiced 3 hrs everynight for 2 weeks 6-9pm, but unfortunately lost in the first round but I'm pretty sure he's glad it's over and ready for football.

LAMONI'S 35TH B-DAY

I know I'm a little late posting but what can you do. Lamoni's birthday was Last Saturday the 18th, and we all got together at a restaurant, Trophy's Steakhouse, for dinner in Queen Creek. I know it was a long trip for the "West Siders" and we are so grateful that you did! It means a lot to us when you make that sacrifice for us and we love you for it! Well I hope Lamoni had a great time because he deserves it and I love him very much!!
Any ways enough of the mushy stuff but I wanted to show off Lamoni's hard work and how talented he his because he is! For those of you who don't know we did all the finish carpentry in the restaurant and if I say so myself our guys did an awesome job! I hope this showcases our work and are able to get more work from it because as you all know work is hard to come by in our line of business. Well the food was great and the atmosphere with the animals staring at us was great also. Lamoni ate buffalo steak which was gross, I couldn't even swallow it, but he liked it and that's all that counts. My dad had antelope sausage which was surprisingly good. Everyone else had some type of beef steak, I had shrimp. Everything was awesome. Thanks again for coming!

Well my house is still a little messy and the chairs, tables & confetti is evidence to that, but it's all good. It's always fun having family over, I love it! And I'm not being sarcastic I really do. I think everyone had a good time especially the kids, even the older kids (over 14), they tend to hang out in Olivia's room. Sometimes Lamoni makes them come out for fresh air.
The food is always great and this year we tried something new, I made BBQ ribs & chicken. Everyone brought the rest, it was delicious!

City Wrestling Tournament

LJ competed in the City Championship Tournament today. This was his first tournament. His weight class was 120lbs. There was 15 boys & 1 girl in his division. And yes he wrestled the girl and pinned her. but all in all I guess he did good. He took 6th place. Lamoni was there to yell out pointers and what moves to do, when he listened he won, good job dad!

Pinewood Derby Time!

Sebastian loves this time of year, Lamoni on the other hand does even more! I think this activity is meant for the bigger kid! Well, like always Dad is very busy and says he's going to work on it with him but as we all know it all gets completed the night before the races, until 11:30pm on a school night, I might add. Any ways it gets done and father & son are proud of their creation. Sebastian won I guess 3/4 of his races. Check out one of his wins! (his is the green one)

Olivia has started her last 5 games and I believe has only struck out once! She been playing outfield and looks very comfortable out there. She's been hitting Awesome too!

A Wonderful Day!

On Saturday we had a pretty full day! We started out with Gaby's first softball game which she did AWESOME! She's really coming into her own. Gaby has so much potential, she tries very hard an wants to get better all the time. Good job Gaby!
Then we headed home with additional family, Andy & Esteban, Benjamin & Kiana! (Thanks for coming to the game!) And since it was a beautiful day, the kids wanted to go swimming. But as we all know the water is still very cold and do you think that detoured them? Not at all! They had fun until they got cold and turned blue.
Then we all went to the movies and watched Monsters VS. Aliens 3D, Awesome flick a must see!
But if that wasn't enough, we stopped by a little carnival by the mall. By this time I think we were quite exhausted.
It was a wonderful day :)

NO WATER, thanks to LJ

Well, again Lamoni asked LJ to put some water into the pool, because it's below the water level to run the pump. We have to do this manually until Lamoni fixes a leak (who knows when that will be!) I noticed this morning around 6am that there was no water. I then ran outside a saw the pool full to the rim and water running forming a nice big puddle. I called Lamoni told him the news and said he had told LJ to let it run for 10-15 minutes then to turn it off last night. I woke LJ nicely, YEAH RIGHT!! Lamoni said I needed to call someone to fill our tank. Of course I called my father and he came to our rescue again. He said he will have someone over in 1-2 hrs. AWESOME! I then made LJ go tell our neighbors, that it was his fault they are out of water.
I met up with the water truck driver and helped him not before I got all wet from the hose. So to satisfy my revenge on being wet I made LJ jump into the cold pool. We have had an eventful day. Check out LJ getting wet!

SIERRA VISTA SOFTBALL GAME

Lamoni & I surprised Olivia last Tuesday and traveled to Sierra Vista AZ, which is 3 1/2 hrs down south by Bisbee. We had a lot of fun! It was nice to get away for the day. Olivia did great, she had hit a single and a RBI. Final score was 8-3, Red mtn.

They also won last Friday 13th against Cibola High (Yuma) 9-0. Red Mtn. is currently 3 W -0 L

A NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY!

Well most of you know I'm a dog lover and when someone says "Do want a dog?" my response is usually "sure, why not!" especially if he's a large dog like our old dog, DJ, may he rest in peace!

My next thought was why do they want to get rid of the dog? Well, I guess their Great Dane didn't like him much and the family has had him longer and are more attached to the Dane.

My second thought was will he get along with our other 2 dogs, Mi Mi & Shadow?

So we've been awaiting the arrival of , Max a French Mastiff, who arrived around 7pm. We loved him right away! He's awesome and so friendly. And yes he got along with the 2 dogs but they're a lot more aggressive than he is.

1st Week of Games & Practices for all 4

Well we get to the season again when all 4 kids are playing something.
Olivia had a shut out on Tues. 15-0 against Ironwood High, she played LF. She hit a single and threw out a runner on 3rd, Awesome play! Hopefully she gets into the swing of things.
Gaby and Sebastian started practices.
LJ had his 1st wrestling match tonight. Lamoni got butterflies and was more nervous than LJ! He lost the 1st dual, pinned the 2nd and won the last by points. He did good. It's great to see how much confidence it gives him.
My brother, Eddie & his wife Andy came to give some support. Also Tata (my Dad) came straight from work. It brings back memories when my Dad and I use to watch Eddie wrestle. Eddie was just as excited too! Thanks for coming.

I'M BACK!!

Hello everyone,
I've decided that my computer will have to wait to get fixed. But for now it's working so I'm taking advantage of it.
Well a lot has been going on with The Mora Bunch! Lamoni is out there working very, very hard to keep the business going and we are so very grateful for the work that we have. I'm working hard at home keeping up with him and the kids which is a job in it's self. Olivia just finished JV basketball for Red Mt. High which was a learning experience, at least she gain 2 great new friends! She has just started softball and she's very excited. LJ just finished flag football and has started wrestling (Dad's very proud) and freshman football. Gaby is going to start softball with the little league. Sebastian is also going to start baseball.
This year for Girls camp, as Camp Director again, I'm going to get an early start and get organized and be prepared as I should be. So I'm very excited about that.

SOOOOO SORRY!

I haven't been able to update my blog because my wireless hardware in my computer doesn't work so I'm on Amy's computer. I would update but I don't have my pictures on her computer. But be patient I'm taking in my laptop after the holidays because I was told I will be without my computer for at least 2 weeks!! So I thought I'd wait since I didn't want the holidays to delay my separation! Any ways, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Declaration of Independence for the Eldest (Olivia)

I just thought I would post an essay Olivia turned in & I stumbled across last week. At first when I read it I couldn't stop laughing. Then I thought to myself (for a second) " Are we that bad?" Nahh! I asked Olivia if that's how she really felt and if so she needed to print a retraction or an amendment or something. But she reassured me that it was an exaggeration. Well it better be! Got to love teenagers!

Declaration of Independence for the Eldest

When in the course of family events it becomes necessary for us to become one and resolve the conflict between certain members of the family. We should work to have an environment which involves creativity. When things get so bad at home a declaration of freedom becomes necessary and an explanation of the reasons.
I hold these truths to be self evident: that all siblings are loved equally; that there is equal allowance; that there is a fair share of leftovers; that I am responsible for my own intake of sugar; and most importantly, that the oldest does not get blamed for mostly everything.
The history of the present parents of the Mora family is a history of unnecessary arguments and quarrels having absolute tyranny over the family.
They have refused to allow time with friends on weekends. This requires at least a week of heads up and close examination to test endurance to be perfect. If I do one thing that is not permitted the thought of social time is rejected.
They have distributed Christmas presents unfairly. The youngest gets the largest of the gifts while I get the smallest ones.
They have discriminated due to age and punish for saying so. If any of my siblings are caught doing something wrong in my presence the fault falls on me for not preventing the situation.
They have taken away the right to watch television, especially during the good shows. The shows are mostly always my favorites and ones showed for one hour only on Saturday nights.
They have forced the practice of sports and extra-curricular activities at all times, which leaves hardly any time of the day, and when there is there is no energy to do much of anything due to exhaustion.
In every state of these oppressions I have raised objection to what I believe to be wrong and punished for doing so. I have tried to see reason in the laws and restrictions by questioning the meaning but getting the useless answer of “because I said so”. I have pointed out that I, being the oldest, gets in far more trouble than the three others have. I have also reminded them that although I may be the first born my brothers and sister of lesser age should be accountable and responsible for their own actions. I have said that times of today regarding teenage practices are far more developed and complex than those back in their day.
I therefore, the eldest, solemnly publish and declare freedom in the home and to be equally part of the family. I should be tried for reasons other than line of birth and to have a say in what I practice. I should be a free teenager and have full power to do all other things other teenagers have the right to do.

Moved Back Home!

Well, I told you the weekly thing would be hard, but any ways as you know work has slowed down and decided to cut down on overhead and move the office back home. I'm just sad that we can't go to Grandma's Kitchen, Sweet Cakes, Picnic Company, Mangos, Guedos or for shopping Domestic Bliss, M&C Paper Co., which were all walking distance, EVERYDAY! On the other hand it's probably a good thing! My sacrifice to the cause!

So we're trying to make my office/laundry room work. It's a working progress since we are waiting for bulletins, dry erase boards, calendars & desks to be hung & assembled. Which if any of you know Lamoni can be sometime next year!!! But we'll see about that!

Well like I said it would be tough to do the weekly thing but it's better late then never, Right! Any ways, Let me give you a playback of events from this past Saturday:
8 am - take Olivia to a Youth Conf. breakfast @ Stake Center (Church)
8:30-11:30 - pick-up LJ & Gaby & Olivia to take back to church to film video (for Roadshow)
Inhale some lunch
12:00 - Take Sebastian to Game 1 1/2hr before game time 2pm
4pm - LJ"s game starts (thank goodness they both played home!) After game go to Esteban's B-day Party (fashionably late 1 1/2hrs)
7pm - Oh did I forget take Olivia to Church dance
9:45pm - Get home & play Rock Band with cousins (Yvette & Danny) until Midnight!!

Score board:
Sebastian's team "Six Shooters #32" Win 28-0 record 2(W) - 0(L)
LJ's team "Lancers #82" Lose in OT 13-14 record 1(W)-1(L). It was close!!

As for Olivia's team "AZ Ravens" (Club Softball)Mon. night got smashed by Gilbert High's Varsity, it was ugly!! If you have ever been to a game and seen how Lamoni & I are, well we were speechless to say the least! We stopped yelling and chalked one up to a learning experience for Olivia.

OK family, this attempt to write "weekly" about our family is going to be tough! I've been checking up on The Davis' Blog (Molly) lately and thought maybe I can do it too, and let me stress maybe! If any of you know my schedule it's going to be hard but let's give it a try because I think I owe it to my hard working & dedicated family to each it's own accomplishments and how proud they make me feel.
